Continuity Exercise Evaulation

I am going assess and evaluate my own video from mine and the classes feedback using 4 main areas.

Continuity:

Continuity is the flow of a film shot by shot to allow the film to make sense and flow correctly without interruption. If the continuity is not broken during recording films look much more professional and makes the film better to watch.

There was a few issues to do with continuity while recording the film that the group and myself did not pick up on. When looked back on the video with the whole class we managed to pick up other peoples views and managed to stop a few continuity errors that we didn't realise. There.There was one continuity error that we couldn't do much about which was the weather, as we recorded over two days the weather changed and you can clearly see the change in the weather in the video. From the start of the video until the (37 second) you can clearly see the weather is very foggy which gives a good setting for the start of the filming but then suddenly changes to a really sunny day. We could have improved this by re-recording the shots in the first day but we thought the fog made a good setting for the theme we was recording.Another continuity error which occurred was the fact that when we recorded one of the group members walking through at the start we recorded him walking a good 5 yards into the field (first 9 seconds) then in our next high angle shot you can see him just entering the gate by a few yards(10 seconds). This was spotted by one of the class members when we went back and looked at the video.To improve this and get rid of continuity errors we should have recorded the second shot from where the member of the group was last standing in the first shot.

Camera work:





Furthermore another continuity error that occurred was the briefcase that the two cast members passed in the film was closed during the whole time of filming was left hanging open when I was carrying it past the camera as you can see in the video above at ( 1:20 seconds). This happened because we unlocked the briefcase for the next shooting of myself opening the briefcase to early and forgot to shut the case leading to this error being spotted by another member of the class.
